“What Shapes Us” Opens with an Evening of Art, Movement, and Connection
The opening of “What Shapes Us” at The Warehouse Gallery was a beautiful celebration of art, emotion, and human connection, bringing together artists, creatives, collectors, and art lovers for an unforgettable evening in Dubai.
Curated by Mirna El Osta, the collective exhibition explored the subtle moments, memories, environments, and encounters that continuously shape who we are. Through deeply personal and expressive works, the exhibition invited visitors to reflect on identity, transformation, and shared experiences.
One of the most memorable moments of the evening was the captivating entrance performance by ballet dancer Domitille Ledouble, founder and director of Classique Attitude Ballet in Barsha Heights. Dancing to Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata, Domitille delivered an improvised performance inspired directly by the artworks surrounding her. The graceful movement flowing through the gallery created a powerful dialogue between visual art and dance, leaving guests mesmerized and emotionally connected to the space.
Following the performance, Mirna El Osta welcomed guests with a heartfelt speech that reflected the essence of the exhibition:
“This exhibition is about the moments, people, and experiences that shape who we are. Even tonight, being here together, supporting one another, sharing art and conversations, is part of what shapes us. Every moment we live leaves an imprint on us.”
She also expressed gratitude to the participating artists — Dr. AlZahraa Soliman, Hind Abdolddin, Ingrid Op’t Hof, Oussayma Dimashkieh, and Suzanne Braidy, for sharing their meaningful works and personal artistic journeys with the audience.
A special thank you was also dedicated to The Warehouse Gallery for hosting the exhibition, and to Valentina for her support and contribution in bringing the event together.
The evening was a true success, filled with inspiring conversations, artistic exchange, and a strong sense of community. “What Shapes Us” reminded everyone present that art has the power not only to reflect our experiences, but also to connect us through them.
The exhibition remains on view until May 20.
